Last Rain was the winner of the most “Soul Staining” award the most recent 48 Hour Horror Film Festival and they are proud of it. “I want you as a viewer to either enjoy it for its B movie shlock or hate it for the obvious intent to shock we had as filmmakers,” explains director Ian Altenbaugh. “It’s a gruesome, vulgar film, that bludgeons the audience with violence, profanity, and utter bleakness.”
In this post-apocalyptic tale, the dirtied and downtrodden characters depict what human behavior devolves into with the absence our our life source: fresh water. At the height of the film, we watch what it means for all Hell to break loose: “We used a lot of the same makeup and methods as Walking Dead, especially when it came to creating a post apocalyptic mob assembly line for makeup & wardrobe” (Altenbaugh).
In the end, Ian hopes that his favorite aspects of horror films soak through, “Cringing and wincing are my two favorite reactions when watching horror films. Hopefully our final scene in Last Rain will cause people to cringe.”
Catch the last drop and Last Rain on the big screen on Saturday, October first at The Oaks Theater! Doors open at 6:00 pm, and the lights will go down at 7:30 pm.
